Developing Communities

Our Goal:
Reduce the housing deficit in Nicaragua, to increase the standards of living, prevent diseases, increase school and job attendance rates, and to reduce vulnerability to natural disasters.

Our housing program works not only to close the housing gap in Nicaragua, but to provide families with a stable source of equity who otherwise would have nothing to call their own. ANF gives Nicaraguan families a house worthy of living in, and the title to their land that will allow them the opportunity to involve themselves in micro-credit development programs.

It is important to note that beneficiaries are involved and partake in the construction. The fact that each family participates and helps in the building process provides them with a heightened sense of ownership of their new home.

For many, a home is the place where a person lives, feeling calm and secure. For the Gutierrez family, home meant dirt floors, a damaged ceiling, and the need to seek refuge during stormy nights. - Read More
